The world’s most celebrated countertenor, Andreas Scholl, brings his artistry to Tivoli Gardens with a programme that reflects the full breadth of his artistic life. He has appeared in leading roles on the world’s greatest stages, from the Metropolitan Opera to the Salzburg Festival and Glyndebourne, and is a regular guest with the foremost orchestras of our time, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Beyond his truly unique voice – resonating in the same register as the legendary castrati of the Baroque era – Scholl is also a relentlessly inventive artist.
Scholl draws inspiration from an unusually wide musical spectrum, from medieval repertoire to Pet Shop Boys. He composes film music, is a devoted sound enthusiast, and has even built a fully professional recording studio in an old wine cellar in his hometown. It is here that he develops new and exploratory concert formats together with his wife, pianist and harpsichordist Tamar Halperin.
