The young voices
Join us for a horizon-expanding tribute to the voice, to song, and to language, as Goldschmidt Music Academy returns to Copenhagen Opera Festival with no fewer than 100 brilliant young singers and musicians – and musical expressions from all over the world.
This afternoon on Den Røde Plads, young voices take centre stage in a vibrant celebration of community, culture, and connection. Once again, you’ll experience why this unique music school in Copenhagen’s Nordvest district continues to stand out – through a heart-warming concert featuring music in many different languages and from both Middle Eastern and Western traditions.
Out of this cultural melting pot, new musical expressions are born: Mozart sung in Arabic, Danish rock classics in symphonic disguise, Danish folk songs in Ukrainian – and much more. A full 100 students in choirs and ensembles are ready to take the Festival Stage, including the Silk Road Orchestra led by oud player Bilal Irshed, the family choir Ukrainian Soul, and the Guldsazers, performing Turkish and Kurdish folk music under the direction of Fuat Talay.
Since 2011, Goldschmidt Music Academy has offered free music education to children and young people aged 7 to 18, creating a space for them to meet and grow through music. Expect world-class atmosphere and joyous energy at this musical firework of a concert – where you’ll even be invited to join in for communal singing in Danish, Arabic, and Yiddish.
