A concert, a drag queen musical, a magic show, a bar mitzvah, or a full-blown folk celebration? The performance piece ‘SALVATION’ by Shlomi Moto Wagner combines Hildegard von Bingen, opera, and techno—with the volume all the way up and plenty of glitter!
In this solo drag opera, performance artist and opera singer Shlomi Moto Wagner transforms into a kaleidoscopic figure—from his drag alter ego Mazy Mazeltov and TV host Wendy Williams to the poet Wisława Szymborska, supermodel Claudia Schiffer, and many more—in a dazzling drag ritual that explores transformation, mutation, and sensuality.
‘SALVATION’ merges ancient Jewish texts, Hildegard von Bingen’s 12th-century compositions, pop hits, new techno, and contemporary feminist writings. The result is a playful, mythological, and poetic interpretation of today’s pop culture and academic discourse, opening up questions about body, identity, and power.
Shlomi Moto Wagner has previously been a soloist with The Israeli Opera and has sung with major orchestras around the world. Since 2012, he has lived in Berlin, where he founded the drag performance group House of Mazeltov, the creative force behind ‘SALVATION’. H20, the venue for the show, aims to present works that dare to open new spaces—sensory, political, and artistic. At a time when the right to stand out is once again being challenged, ‘SALVATION’ celebrates the power of imagination and creativity—with powder, lipstick, and loads of glitter!
‘SALVATION’ (Glitter doesn’t care I’m a boy) is presented by H20 in collaboration with Copenhagen Opera Festival
