At Copenhagen Opera Festival, we are very excited to open up and share the process of creating a new Opera, right from the very beginning. Lisbon Floor (working title) is a new commission from the inspiring team of librettist Lea Marie Løppenthin, composer Matias Vestergård Hansen and director Natascha Metherell which began it's journey in 2019 - evolving considerably during the Corona Pandemic.

In our workshop on the 27th August 2020, we will explore the creative process to see how the libretto was first formed and discover how it has grown over the past 6 months - we will hear how the composer and librettist have worked together in advance of the composition process and where the director has figured in these early stages.  7 singers and a pianist will join us to present a read-through of the Act One Libretto and to work musically on a quartet from Act Three.  

The workshop is designed to share how new works are created, to discover more about the creative relationships between librettist, composer and director and to also invite singers in to the process of new composition.  The workshop is also an essential tool for the creative team, to see how their work is taking shape in these early stages and what adaptations, if any, they might want to make following on from the workshop.
