Nordkraft has been transformed into an opera, and it takes completely new paths to capture the captivating atmosphere and the intense emotional life in Jakob Ejersbo's classic novel.
In Copenhagen this summer, the famous soprano will present two personally curated concerts that demonstrate her extraordinary versatility as a performer, and furthermore, she will lead vocal masterclasses.

Despite a canceled festival, Copenhagen Opera Festival still hosted and co-produced a handful of sparkling activities this year. Check out the pictures from our The Juliet Letters concert in Tivoli, our 100 Opera Moments for Copenhagen, a workshop for our new opera Lisbon Floor and from the magical co-production with Det Kongelige Teater, Tryllefløjten.
A film crew followed our talented performers around the city, as they performed 100 Opera Moments for Copenhagen for small gatherings of people. The people of Copenhagen, of all ages, were given the gift of live opera in various and intimate settings.

Time flies as we reach the fifth and final day of our 100 Opera Moments. Over the past few days, we experienced a wonderful dialogue with the many attentive recipients of our pop up moments and has been an incredibly rewarding experience for everyone involved. In four days, our dedicated artists have performed for more than 4000 people in Copenhagen and if everything goes according to plan, we will end our magical response to COVID-19 with our 100th opera moment early this evening.
Today, we have reached the fourth day on our mission to bring 100 Opera Moments to Copenhagen. During the last three days, we have visited most parts of the city, including Frederiksberg. Our participating artists have been thrilled to meet happy and engaged audiences, who are involved in the creation of some truly magical moments in the most wonderful surroundings. Today, we continue our adventure and hope you might also have the opportunity to experience an opera moment at one of our stops around the city.
Just like that, we have reached the third day of our 100 Opera Moments for Copenhagen. The weekend offered both blazing sunshine and torrential rain, where we luckily still performed opera moments for over 2000 people around the city. We are looking forward to getting the week off to a good start with small moments of live music and beautiful songs. Today, you might be lucky enough to experience an opera moment somewhere around Copenhagen.
After a wonderful start to our 100 Opera Moments allowing for our performances in bright sunshine for over 1000 people, we look forward to making sure that the city, the people of Copenhagen - and maybe even you – can experience an opera moment on this Sunday.
When Corona hit the big pause button of our cultural offerings, it became the mission of Copenhagen Opera Festival not to let 2020 pass by without finding a manner in which to ensure that opera reached the public in its original form; live and in front of an audience.
Da Copenhagen Opera Festival 2020 aflyses grundet COVID-19 i sit kendte format, giver festivalen i stedet 100 opera-øjeblikke i gave til dejlige København. Disse små intime akustiske koncerter fordeles ud på tværs af København og afholdes over få dage i slutningen af august. Hvert øjeblik er en akustisk fremførelse, hvor 20 små musikalske hold sammensætter et individuelt kreativt program, der højst må vare i 15 minutter.

This incredible staging of Die Zauberflöte (the Magic Flute) has dazzled a broad audience since it opened at the Komische Oper in Berlin. Thanks to the unique collaboration between Copenhagen Opera Festival and the Royal Danish Opera, it can finally be experienced in Copenhagen.
A Summer with social distancing under COVID-19's heavy clouds means that Copenhagen Opera Festival 2020 must be cancelled in its usual format and replaced with something completely different. Instead, the festival will present a gift in the shape of 100 Opera Moments to the city of Copenhagen.
In light of the Danish authorities’ Coronavirus/COVID-19 ban on all large-scale events until the end of August 2020, Copenhagen Opera Festival is taking its time to carefully go through this year’s planned program with all involved parties, as many components of our festival unfortunately cannot be carried out as planned.
